OBJECTIVE
SNAP: The AIC Photography Benefit Gala is one of the most anticipated art parties of the year.
OVERVIEW
The Art Institute of Chicago hosts “SNAP: The Photography Benefit Gala” in its Modern Wing every other year with over 300 art lovers, civic leaders and philanthropists in attendance. Proceeds from the event benefit the Photography Gala Fund, the museum’s largest single source of acquisitions support for photography.
The SNAP Gala is “a young, hip edgy event with a vibe that attracts the next generation of civic supporters”.
Guests entering the Modern Wing were first snapped by “paparazzi” before continuing to Terzo Piano for a reception set against a backdrop of skyline views. Classic photo sets depicted images from the museum’s permanent collection and provided unique photo memories.
Following dinner in Griffith Court, a live auction is conducted by Christie’s America. One-of-a-kind photographic commissions were custom designed for winning bidders and donated by internationally renowned artists. And guests always get a sneak peak of the newest collection at this event.
More than $500,000.00 is raised to support the museum’s Photography Gala Fund for future acquisitions.
